Art Residency Program

We warmly welcome contemporary jewellery artists and designers to apply to our Art Residency Program. This interdisciplinary and intercultural program encourages people coming from different backgrounds to work in our Jewellery Studio. Every year we would like to invite one jewellery artist to AIVA starting from this July to December.

The resident will have some of your time teaching our foundation classes to have tutorials with our students or deliver workshops and lectures. We also offer the opportunity to join our other skill workshops or master classes conducted by other invited jewellery artists in the studio. AIVA will also strongly provide you with different platforms for personal promotion activities, such as local museums and art galleries in Shanghai or having lectures in other colleges etc.

We believe this new environment and culture will bring plenty of inspiration to you and it will be a great chance to develop your personal work from a new perspective. During or at the end of your journey at AIVA, will have the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition in our gallery space.

Residency Period: Long-term recruitment
Duration of Residency: March 2024 to May 2024
Application Deadline: Please contact us before the 31st of December, so we can arrange accommodation and help you to prepare your VISA.

Residency Program:
The AIVA Art Residency is aimed at attracted and young and talented artists or designers to develop intercultural, experimental and unique work. We hope this opportunity would offer residents a bran-new experience.

Residents in this category are required to:
Provide own spending expenses
Provide own materials
Required to working hours of 12 hours per week
Conduct 2 to 4 workshops (workshops can be repeated)
Conduct 2 university lectures
Develop and make work for exhibition in our exhibition space

Residency Includes:
Full Return Flight tickets (If not a local resident)
Studio Space in the relevant studio, including equipment and tools appropriate to that studio
Accommodation provided, to be allocated one room and may share the kitchen, bathroom & living space with another resident
Promotional assistance at local galleries or Universities
Opportunity to teach or work additional (over 12 hours) time to generate income

Workshop Specifics/Facilities
AIVA Jewellery Studio:
18 jewellery benches, sand blaster machine, 12 flex-shafts, 3 professional soldering benches, drill machine, magnetic tumbler, sandblasting machine, polishing motor, single barrel tumbler, melting machine, kiln, hydraulic press, rolling mill, bench cutter and other extensive range of hand tools.

Because of different skills and hobbies, if you can bring your own hand tools will be better. If you need other facilities or materials for the workshop, we will try our best to support you.

AIVA國際視覺藝術教育將在2023年下半年開放駐場藝術家計劃。我們熱烈邀請在當代首飾方面有豐富經驗的創作者們來AIVA首飾工作室進行個人創作，有機會并加入我們的專業教學團隊。從2024年上半年開始，我們計劃每年7月到12月開放邀請1位優秀的藝術家駐場。

駐場藝術家的工作內容將包括開設面對大眾具有特色的工作坊，與我們教學團隊一起參與全日制預科學生的學習指導，并有機會免費參加AIVA金工教室每年舉辦的當代首飾大師班課程，免費使用我們的工作室器械與其他相關資源。AIVA也將努力為您提供不同平臺進行個人推廣活動，如：與上海當地的美術館、畫廊合作講座或工作坊；到大學里進行學術講座等等。

在我們的金工教室里您將擁有獨立的工作臺，可以靈活使用空閑的教室空間，進行個人作品的創作。并且在駐地期間，我們還將為您提供個人作品展覽的機會。

駐場藝術家要求：

承擔個人生活費

承擔個人材料費

駐場時間每年3月至5月

每周工作時間12小時，其余時間須在工作室進行個人創作

在駐地期間指導2-4次工作坊（工作坊內容可重復）

進行兩次院校講座

駐場計劃將提供：

來回機票（如非在上海的藝術家）

提供住宿

工作臺、共享器材設備與工具、創作使用空間

個人宣傳：講座、展覽與學術交流

若有額外工作時數將會有相應的薪水

AIVA首飾教室現有設備：

18張首飾工作臺、噴砂機、12臺吊機、3張專業焊臺、臺式鉆床、磁針拋光機、滾動拋光機、棉輪拋光機、噴砂機、超聲波清洗機、熔金機、琺瑯爐、液壓機、壓片機、切片機；常用基礎金工工具等

如個人創作或工作坊需要額外的器械與工具，可以與我們商量額外添置。
